Bread of Life African Ministries currently focuses its services on caring for vulnerable children in Uganda. Our outreaches include:
(1) operating homes for abandoned, orphaned, and vulnerable children
(2) providing in-home assistance to children and families in need
Africa's children are crying out for help. There are an estimated 50 million orphans in Africa with about 15 million being AIDS orphans. Uganda alone has 2.5 million orphans, about half caused by their parents dying from AIDS. Moreover, children are simply abandoned at hospitals or in other places by parents unable or unwilling to care for them. While the need is overwhelming, we can make a difference.
A local village child looks on while the Coxes survey the land where Keirungi Children's Village would change lives. Within minutes after coming to the site, the Coxes were surrounded by six children. They were curious about the visit, especially seeing a "mzungu" (white person). After talking with the children, the Coxes learned that several of them were orphans. All of them were barefoot and some only had what amounted to rags as clothes. By assisting Bread of Life African Ministries, you can help alleviate the suffering of such children in Uganda.
Keirungi Children's Village is home to abandoned, orphaned, and vulnerable children who have no one to care for them. The village is set on several acres of donated land in a small village called Nyamiyaga, located four miles outside of Kabale, a small rural town in southwest Uganda. Each home can accommodate up to 10 children and a housemother or house parents.
Keirungi is a place of new beginnings for children whose future was only filled with darkness, despair, and suffering.
